Site Operatives, Dryliners, Joiners, Site Supervisors, QA Inspectors, Contractors & Client Teams

This technical course provides a comprehensive understanding of internal wall construction and plasterboard installation, covering studwork design, fire-rated and acoustic partitioning, fixing techniques, and finishing methods in accordance with UK Building Regulations. Delegates will gain practical and inspection skills to ensure high-quality, defect-free installations.

Unlike standard plasterboarding courses, this programme combines hands-on installation with technical compliance knowledge, including:

  • Correct wall framing layouts and load-bearing considerations
  • Understand compliance requirements and what makes a defect unsafe vs simply poor workmanship
  • Fire-rated and acoustic solutions
  • Material selection for compliance with BS EN and Approved Documents
  • Common installation errors and defect prevention
  • Quality assurance methods and defect inspection techniques

Overview

By the end of the day, delegates will be able to:
Design and construct stud walls with correct spacing, bracing, and tolerances
Select appropriate plasterboard types (fire, moisture, acoustic) for each application
Apply technical fixing methods including screws, adhesive, and specialized fasteners
Joint, tape, and finish boards to British Standard tolerances
Identify and correct defects in both installation and finishing
Ensure compliance with Building Regulations (Part B & E), fire-rated construction, and acoustic performance standards
Conduct structured inspections and QA checks
Prepare clear defect reports and handover documentation

Overview

A practical, technical 1-day course for construction professionals, covering studwork design, plasterboard installation, jointing, and finishing. Delegates gain hands-on experience, learn to meet fire, acoustic, and regulatory standards, and develop skills to inspect and prevent defects, ensuring high-quality, compliant internal wall systems.

This 1-day course goes beyond basic plasterboarding, teaching delegates how to construct stud walls, install and finish boards, and meet fire, acoustic, and regulatory standards. With hands-on exercises, defect recognition, and quality assurance techniques, delegates gain practical skills to deliver high-quality, compliant internal wall systems while reducing rework and ensuring first-time inspections pass.
Yes. This course is specifically designed to strengthen your onsite quality assurance skills. You’ll learn not only how to install stud walls and plasterboard correctly, but also how to identify and prevent common defects, check compliance with fire, acoustic, and building regulations, and conduct structured inspections. By the end of the day, you’ll be able to assess workmanship confidently, implement quality controls, and ensure that internal wall systems are completed to a consistently high standard.

This course covers the full process of internal wall construction, from designing and erecting stud walls to selecting, installing, and finishing plasterboard. Delegates learn correct fixing techniques, jointing and finishing methods, fire-rated and acoustic considerations, and how to identify and prevent common defects. The course also teaches practical quality assurance skills, including structured inspections, defect reporting, and compliance with UK Building Regulations and industry standards.
